This event marks a significant milestone in Vietnam-Korea collaboration on carbon markets and ITMO project development. The MOU focuses on advancing initiatives under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, encompassing technical cooperation, development of projects in the fields of clean energy transition, energy efficiency, waste management etc., securing funding, capacity building, and policy support. RCEE-NIRAS will lead implementation in Vietnam, engaging with government bodies such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Industry and Trade while KDS will provide policy advisory, capacity building, and mobilize Korea’s financial and technical resources.

This partnership supports Vietnam’s emissions reduction goals under its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and will contribute to expanding the areas of collaboration between Vietnam and Korea from energy conservation and green growth, towards developing a mutually beneficial international carbon trading mechanism to achieve carbon net zero.
